Cursor is an AI code editor: your repository, your editor, with models that write and refactor code across it. If your day is spent in source code, it is one of the definitive AI tools.
Terminus is what you might point that editor at. It is an operating system where the things you build — agents, apps, skills — run for people who never open an editor at all. The two meet at the Terminus CLI: you can build a Terminus app or agent in Cursor, run it locally with `terminus dev`, and publish it to the Store.
| Terminus | Cursor | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | An AI agent operating system in the browser | An AI-first code editor on your machine |
| Who it serves | Anyone who wants agents and apps working over their files | People writing software |
| The AI's job | Run the work: agents on schedules, apps over files, chat on the desktop | Write the code, with you, in the repo |
| Where output lands | Your workspace's file system and the public catalog | Your repository |
| Autonomy | Standing agents with addresses, schedules, and tool grants | Background agents scoped to coding tasks |
| Using them together | Build Terminus apps and agents in any editor via the CLI | Cursor as the editor in that loop |
